“ Should we put the mud flaps far enough from the tires to function?”
“ Hell no, just give them a couple inches. ”
“ But won’t they get pulled up on top of the tires all the time?”
“A nd let’s make them too short to do anything anyway.”
“ Sir...”
“ We’ll just put stickers on the truck saying we’re not responsible for damage!”
“ But wouldn’t it be easier to-”
“ STICKERS!"

Designer: Sir, can we add a fabric cover that goes over the top of the full bed, preventing rocks and other debris from flying out of the bed and damaging following vehicles?
Bean counter: Yes, but we don’t have enough money to wire them them to the cabin. So the cover will be there, but it will open and permanently non-functional.
Designer: But won’t any vehicle following within 10 car lengths get sprayed with rocks and dust essentially getting sandblasted? What if their cars get damaged?
Bean counter: STICKER!
Legal department at bean counter company: STICKER!

Yes officer, clearly this man is dead. Yes
I realize I’ve stabbed him
, but as you can plainly see on my shirt, it says “Not responsible for stabbings
.” I don’t know what you were
expecting.

Tipper lorry?

Tipper, tipper truck or tipper wagon are what we generally call them.
The term dump truck isn’t used much over here and even then it’s likely to be when talking about the North American vehicle.
Lorry seems to fallen out of favour here to and generally it’s just trucks.
Pickups are pickups unless talking about the North American pickups and then they are cross termed with trucks as that’s what the U.K. tends to call many of it’s pickups.
Words in the U.K. fall in and out of use all the time the U.S. seems to keep hold of them and even expand the meaning sometimes.
